after typing in msconfig I nocticed that scanregistry autostarts, can I just disable it. recommended or no? It just seems to take up extra ram and time at startup.

That way, if you make a mistake when adding or removing key(s) from your registry, you can load, or revert back to the copy before the (bad) changes.
