ok, for some reason, windows 98 decided to muck up my dad's computer. it wont let it boot into windows. but its due for a reformat and a new OS. so i hooked up the harddrive to mine to back up my dad's files. one thing he needs is his outlook address book. i have no way of exporting it from outlook, because i cant run the program on his(itll just run it with my settings). so does anyone know where the file is stored that has the address book info? since its part of the office suite, all the program files are mixed together in the office folder, so i have no clue where it is.

For Win98, try:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book

Look for a "*.wab" file.

Maybe you could reinstall the OS on top of itself - temporarily - just to get OE running, then export his address book to a *.wab file somewhere (even a floppy)?

In the future, specify Outlook or Outlook Express. You mention Office (in small letters - please do what your English teacher taught you - capitalization and punctuation - if only to make our lives a bit easier).

All Outlook data is stored in a .PST file. It's normally in C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. It's called "OUTLOOK.PST". Just copy the entire contents of that folder.

...I said Outlook, now if that doesnt tell you whether its Outlook or Outlook Express, I dont know what will. Obviously, if I meant Outlook Express, I would have said Outlook Express. Rather, I meant Outlook, so I said Outlook.

but anyways, I did find it earlier, i tried exporting my current information to see how it stores it. then searched and found it.
