seems like the newest "revision" of aol doesnt show what speed you connect at (if it does tell me how to turn it on, please)
when i log on\off sometimes my taskbar flashes an icon that is for some sort of dial up ....thing, i know that says my connection speed can someone tell me where this program is so i can see my speed? thanks for any help

The Aol connection speed you saw when you logged onto AOL in the previous version lied anyways. try here...

If you'll right click on the AOL icon in the lower right hand systray you'll see a "status" option or something to that extent. You can find the connection speed there.

If you'd like to monitor your actual network throughput real-time, rather than just your network connect speed, there are also several utilities to do that.
I like to use NetStat Live by Analog X. Its free, and can be downloaded here:

sorry to say but most of the time that little number that flashes your speed is not even close to probably what your getting. best way is to use the web sites that other members have posted. Basically that little number that pops up just showing people that its connecting. plus its and estimation

well usually i use that dos prompt ping thing to see connections to sites and that is usually enough for me, but i like easier things. thanks for the links they were all neat and or usefull

about that cnet test, the first time seemed right, i got 49.9 k (stupid slow aol)
the second time though, i think there was a lil problem i wish, i wish my connection was 6800kbps
i didnt change anything myself either
