Colleagues & Fellow Tinkerers:
I have midi music files that I'd like to convert to files playable on my Plextor MVP2000 software. Is there a way to convert midi to other types of audio files?
Thx!

You're aware that midi files aren't audio files, right? Midi is simply instructional code to tell an audio device what to play, and they will sound vastly different depending on the audio device used (sound card, midi keyboard or synthesizer, etc)
But anyways, there are ways to make it an audio file, like a .WAV, we just went over this here: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum1/HTML/013273.html

OutPatient:
Thx for the link. No, I did not realize midi files are not audio files.
Thankyou.

Yeah, you would definately notice a difference in midi sound with a diff sound card.

Warthog:
I'm not sure I follow you... My midi files are played (or run?) through the same card I use for everything else (SB Value). Am I missing something else here?
I'm about to try Outpatient's advice and will post my results.

I think what warthog meant was that every soundcard has it's own distinct midi wavetable (a wavetable is a set of sampled instruments). A midi played using one card's wavetable will sound different from a midi played using another card's wavetable.

No Problemo!
I did go to the links above and I cant't find the synthesizer on my sound options! I know I HAD it, BEFORE I installed Plextor software. It just up and disappeared! Well, I'll keep looking. It's gotta be on my drive somewhere. Windoze must have one that Plextor's Manager 2000 has replaced and is likely calling it something else... Or Plextor has a fancy one I simply need to locate. Don't worry: I'll post when I get bottlenecked!
Thx.
