logitech optical mouse

I have two of these varments, and I like them, one quite working, on my backup machine, they both work on the main machine.,
Ive downloaded and printed from logitech. automated, enough pages to make an enginering manuel, but no answer to the problem. regular mouse works fine, have gone to HD and deleted all software and device mgr. and deleted there, tried to reinstall with the mouse software,CD. done this a dozen times. no results. light doesnt light in mouse if that means anything. shouldn't have to be an engineer to install a dam mouse. any ideas??

I just had a Logitech cordless trackball fail, gave them a call and they sent me a new one and didnt ask for the "old" one back, for some reason they sent me a Wingman Extreme gamepad along with it? Cant beat that...
