I used to use Photoshop 5, after installing Photoshop 6, Photoshop5 wont work anymore.

Is there a way to make Photoshop 5 work despite having Photoshop 6 installed ?.

Photoshop 5 runs faster/smoother on my system.

I believe that installing PS 6 wouldn't have overwritten the previous installation of PS 5 because the installation would have a had a different path. By default: PS 5 would have installed to this directory: c:\program files\adobe\photoshop 5 and PS 6 would have installed to: c:\program files\adobe\photoshop 6. So technically it wouldn't have overwritten the program files i believe. But i think Photoshop also installs some files to the C:\program files\common files directory and may have overwritten some files from the previous version of PS.

Then again, it's quite possible that it's not possible to have both versions running simultaneously. One question, do both versions show up in add/remove programs? I would think that the PS6 installer would have detected an existing version already installed and try to upgrade it.

Why dont you just uninstall PS6 and reinstall PS5 and continue using it?

I know for a fact that you're able to have multiple versions of Adobe graphic applications. I have 2 versions of Photoshop, 5.5 & 6. And also have 2 versions Go Live, 4 & 5, and they run with no problems... Try uninstalling both versions of Photoshop and reinstalling them both...
