I just sent my IBM 60GXP hard drive in to fix under the warranty. What is worrying me is that they just sent me an email today stating they have sent the replacement hdd back to me. When I look at the new hdd part and serial #, i notice it is the same as my old hdd part and serial #. Isn't the serial # suppose to be different? are they just resending me back my old hdd??

The serial number will be different only if they had to replace the drive. It seems they were able to repair your drive.

or may-be when they run test on your drive they didn’t find any problem.

what i am afraid of is that they didn't replace anything in the hard drive and just sent it back to me like it was replaced. if you said that they ran a fitness test on it and if they didn't find anything wrong with it, they won't replace anything, but that won't solve the problem that i originally have. does that mean i just wasted $16 just sending in my hard drive when i could've used that money to actually buy a new hard working one? can they actually say that they found no problems with it and won't fix it even though i am having problems with it?

I'm sure they sent you a refurb. Try to be patient.
