Thanks daveleau 05-19-2001, 05:50 PM System specs appear to be this: Intel P2-350 128MB PC100 ECC SDRAM 13.6GB Maxtor hard drive STB 4400 TNT 16MB video card Turtle Beach Montego II A3D sound card 40x CD-ROM USR 56K Voice/Fax modem It is a good system and can be good for light work (wouldn't encode video or do photoshop on it) but it could handle just about anything else. I am not sure what the highest processor is that the mobo supports. I would not think that it was going to be worth it to just upgrade the processor though. It has a fairly good amount of RAM. The video is ok and could possibly use a GeForce MX 2 for about $150 or so to spruce it up. That is about it without getting a new mobo and processor. You can get an Athlon 1.3GHz and mobo for less than $450.... Dave Brangwen 05-20-2001, 02:46 PM Check Dell's Website. Like Gateway, you should find a list of upgrades if you want to at least consider doing such a thing. Usually the list will include CPU, HD and memory upgradability and cost. But in 6 months you may discover you are still not satisfied. Take a look and you can make a more informed decision. Please post back. I'm curious what your choice will be. I have a xpsr 450 and just opened the case for the first time in almost 4 years to clean the dust bunnies inside. The Dell site is the best route to go if not www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) is a pretty good place to check out for items and also www.crucialtechnology.com (http://www.crucialtechnology.com) is a good place just to look for the memory you have as it asks what type of system and the matches it to what you get. BD glpops 05-20-2001, 03:00 PM At this point it looks like I may keep this around just for a backup. I built one system this year and gave it to my son, I'm thinking about building another,so this would do till then. I really appreciate the input from you guys, its real nice to have a place to ask my many questions. :-) So it looks like no upgrade on this one. SysOpt.com
