i have an old p3 600 mhz dell inspiron 4000 notebook
i would like to upgrade the memory as much az i can.
I'm running xp on it.
here is some info about my questions:
my system :(info from dell.com .I have the intel p3 proc.)
http://docs.us.dell.com/docs/systems/ph2o/specs.htm#1097730

the memory recommended by dell(expensive):

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/memconfigproductlisting.
aspx?icompatid=57511&c=us&l=en&cs=19

memory what i found but not sure it will work with my system:

http://3btech.net/kinpc25sod14.html
http://www.str8buy.com/25pcmemforde1.html (this is for dell for sure but it's still expensive)

I would like to upgrade 512 or even more if its possible (i'm not sure why is the max mem. 512 . couse of the mobo or because the original os with my pc was win 98 and win 98 can't handle more than that?)

So what kinda memory am i need or i just have to order from dell?? wich i dont want.

thanx

Get Crucial.

The memory limit is strictly hardware (motherboard) related. You don't need more than 512MB anyway.

I wouldn't trust that $30 RAM. The $60 one looks good, but can you trust the retailer?

512 is the maximum due to your motherboard. Go here and use the memory configurator to find your memory.

$18.99 for 32mb all the way to $99.00 for 256mb

Okay, I was a little late on that one. Took too long to type. ;)
