My current system:

A7V333R rev. 1.01 (using Lumberjack Full UDMA 1016) in "jumperfree" mode
XP1700+ Palomino core
512 MB PC2700 Apacer RAM
Radeon 8500LE 64mb video card
Western Digital 80GB 7200rpm 8mb buffer Hard Drive
Win XP Pro SP1

I bought an XP2400+ (Thoroughbred) and installed it this afternoon. Systems POSTs OK, but XP refuses to load, even in "safe" mode. In normal mode it gets to the black XP Pro screen and just stays there with the blue "runner" going back and forth until it eventually reboots. In safe mode, the last driver I see load is mup.sys.

BIOS reports the new chip, voltage, speeds, etc. just fine it seems. I'e even tried the 1015 Lumberjack BIOS, no luck.

System will boot into DOS from an XP Pro DOS start disk, so for some reason XP Pro is not happy with things.

System is fine with XP1700+ installed back in it.

This is extremly frustrating!!!!

Any ideas or suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Bob

Try bringing the core voltage up or down. The T-bred uses a lower voltage than the Palomino.

BTW - does the Lumberjack BIOS support the T-bred? You may have to flash back to standard.

The solution was to revert my DDR memory voltage jumpers (JP1 and JP2) back to the ASUS defaults. I had switched them to the lower voltage settings recommended by Mushkin not long after I bought my board last year.

Hooooray!!!!!!!!! :x
