I just installed win98 on my old pc again and it starts like it did when I was installing windows. It aks to pick from a menu. 1.w/ cd support 2. no cd support....then asks for boot disk....then windows starts normally. I did install it in a rush. How can I get rid of that menu?

In your rush did you forget to take out the Win98 start-up disk?

Do you have a weird drive configuration, like a SCSI/IDE raid/ATA66/100 controller or something? Is your hard drive listed as a boot drive in your pc's bios?

Sounds like either the PC thinks the A: drive is the only valid boot device at startup...that or Windows does.

You do not have any remnants from a multiple boot utility on your drive do you? Have you ever had Linux installed on that drive? If so, you will have to use a zero utility like wipe or zap to remove the Linux signature from the MBR sector.

Just things to check http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Then again, you could have a connfig file being loaded by windows that references something in the 'A' drive.
