3 coming out this year. Anyone hear about it?

PS3 will NOT be out this year... As far as the next xbox being "better" than the PS3... Thats what they said about the current xbox before its release also, which bearly put a dent into PS2 sales.

microsoft will dominate the home, but sony will win on consoles

the ps3 is gonna have 'cell' and high-bandwidth world-wide networking

this will allow playing ps3 games online to be like distributed computing - a ps3 with more on scr4een than it can render will be helped out by another ps3 in the next town that is noty doing much. it will be huge, scary, global and great fun!

...I remember when Sega was king of the consoles. Back then they didn't always have the best technology, but they were the most popular. they shot themselves in the foot and ruined their reputation by releasing too many consoles and not bothering to support them with any decent games. most ppl were P*ssed when they released the 32x add-on for the Megadrive and then dumped it after a year for the Saturn, for me it was definetly the straw that broke the camels back. Lets hope Sony don't do the same thing.

i doubt anyone still reads this thread but i will post a little info for the uninformed.

there is going to be a new playstation to be released this year, albeit not the ps3. its called the psx, a sort of ps2.5 that will be a ps2 with dvd/cd recordability, tivo type functionality, and have a few extras. the actual ps2 part will not have any significant upgrades other than usb 2.0 and memory stick.

for more info go to psx2.com. it looks pretty sleek too, and not a bad piece if you dont already have a ps2 and are into those all in one type devices.

and if you think the xbox is american made, you obviously dont know what is inside. microsoft is american yes, but how many pieces inside will you see "made in taiwan" or "made in china"?

xbox would have been a good deal, had it had some good games to make it worth the 180 it sells for now. Halo1/2 does not compensate for dishing out that much on a new system. Good luck on xbox 2.

I'd heard a PS3 was in the works a while back. Apparently the PS2 was in development when the PS1 was released, whether thats true or not ill never know..

If it was true though seems realistic that the PS3 is being developed as we speak.. time will tell I suppose.

No matter how better the xbox or an xbox2 will be than a ps2 or ps3,the playstations will always win because of the popularity

It will win, yes, but in a few years, the NEXT next gen ps console might not, because of the consoles that have been around for the same time.

But, i love nintendo, their games are excellent, and the only console i would get at this stage would be a GC.

I still play SNES games.

The SNES was Nintendo's best moment. I wasn't keen on the '64 apart from Goldeneye, and the GC really hasn't impressed me tbh. But the SNES was amazing . :)
