The United Earth Government (UEG)

We had the League of Nations after World War One but it was weakened and forgotten at the start of World War Two.

We had the United Nations (UN) after World War Two and it had survived for many decades. But its financial difficulties are weakening it slowly.

Other than the financial problems, the political infighting is also taking place in the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly. If this situation continues, the UN will meet the same fate as the League of Nations.

For many years, many idealists are dreaming of a global organization that could lead the world out of everything and maintain peace in all the countries. In other words, a unified government that governs the entire planet and everyone is loyal to one unified flag. Yes! This idea is quite ridiculous and foolish because it is related to many PC game concepts and science fiction books.

If there are authors who are dreaming this concept, why can't we do the same? There are a lot of people who are sick and tired of the conflicts that are ravaging this planet. So we've to find a way to reunify all the peoples and form a unified government.

My personal concept is: The United Earth Government (UEG)

The structure:

1) The President (Elected)
2) The Prime Minister (Selected)
3) The Cabinet Ministers(Elected)
4) The Legistrative Council (Selected)
5) The General Assembly (Elected)
6) The Military Command (Selected)

The above structure is just a rough idea of the UEG's infrastructure.

All the countries will abolish their national boundaries and integrate their armed forces into the Earth Defense Force (EDF). The latter will be under the command of the Military Command while the Prime Minister and the President will control the Military Command.

The people of Earth will pledge their loyalty to one government and one flag. All the races will be treated as equals and citizens of Earth. They will enjoy the same benefits and obey the same laws. There will be no discrimination and injustice. The Planetary Supreme Court (PSC) will be formed to unify all the legistrative systems.

The Planetary Election will be held once in every ten years to allow the people to choose the President, the General Assembly representatives and the Cabinet Ministers. It will last for two months because the entire human population is involved in this massive election. Thus, democracy and socialism are introduced to the world.

This is somewhat realted to the Religion thread we have running.

I propose a Theocracy run by the God of the Bible. In fact this is exactly what the Bible tells us will happen after Armegeddon. The current state of world events is described in the Bible as is the UN appearing in the last days, but none of the earthly government will be capable to bring about peace. This too is in line with the Bible where it states man cannot even direct his own step. It was never God's intention to allow man to rule ourselves, the last roughly six thousand years have been to prove to ourselves as well as Satan and the angels that sided with him how incapable anyone but God is to rule the Earth.

I am way too tired to try and give a better answer, but I will start with----- nope!

It will never work. We here in the US can’t even get our own Government to work properly or to agree on anything. The Democrats and the Republicans are at each other’s throats about every policy and decision just to pick sides. It will never, could never and should never work. Humans are greedy by nature and are the root of all that is evil in this world-- Humans need rules and consequences for failure to follow the rules. Saddam is a perfect example.

Indeed. It would never happen unless an all-powerful country decided to annex all of it's surrounding countries in a pre-emptive strike, *cough* America *cough*, ;).

There are too many countries that don't work together, and they never will, that is what humanity is all about, difference of opinion.

Religion? You want RELIGION to run the world? ARE YOU INSANE?! You have seen what religion has done to countries such as Iran and Iraq and Israel, and Europe too for that matter! Religion is a greedy, selfish thing and should never be related to God.

And seeing as we have never had contact with God, how do you expect us to be led by him? Another "Jesus"?.

The day Religion rules the world, is the day self-sufficiency becomes extinct.

Religion will lead to fanatism and radicalism. If we put our efforts in promoting religion as the ruling system on Earth, our greatest fear will just appear before our very eyes. Religious fanatics will slaughter anyone that are against their beliefs. Religious radicals will force everyone to believe their faiths. I, personally, does not want that to happen to my family or me.

As for the previous replies, we can never fulfil the ultimate dream of unifying the human population because our generation is still filled with the Cold War-era people. They still believe in their old and devastating beliefs. If our descendants can abandon the old ways, we can develop new and peaceful ideas to unify the world. Then everyone will live peacefully and prosper together on a unified planet.

In other words, we need to teach our descendants that equality and peace must be uphold at all times. Political ideas must be unified or there will be no rest for everyone. THE OLD WAYS MUST BE DISCARDED IN ORDER FOR THE HUMAN RACE TO ENJOY PEACE AND PROSPERITY.

If we can unify together, our technological advancement will intensify and quicken. All the scientific experts from all over the world work together to modernize our human civilization. All the different religious leaders gather together to promote religious freedom throughout the world. All the economies will combine to create a unified and strong economy.

That is what I want for my great-great-grandchildren...

A united earth government is absolutely the worst idea EVER! Do you really want your life dictated to you by a Russian, Chinese, or North Korean? Everybody talks about "peace and harmony on the earth". The real way to get there? Get rid of the UN, never set anything like it up again, and make countries deal one on one with each other. Will there be a war no and again? Sure, but those that want peace all the time are obviously to LAZY to want to fight for it. Sometimes the only way to have peace is through war. Are ironic as it sounds, it is TRUE!

Well! At least, some of you hope that there will be a UEG for our descendants. Yes! There are a lot of STUPID people out there who want to annihilate our planet. I was born in the late 70's and I was forced to grow up during the Cold War.

I think most of u grow up during the Cold War. Thus, we're influenced by the STUPID politicians who are fighting one another over democracy and communism. Although many people wanted peace and harmony, those IGNORANT people just didn't care much. They just want to HAVE FUN!!

I just hope that our descendants are not influenced by our past. Then we can have hopes of a united people. For the previous reply on the insults and TV shows, I think you're already influenced by the politicians that created the Cold War. Russians, Chinese and North Koreans? Are they humans? Are we humans? Ask yourself...

Why are we differentiating ourselves into warring races? In the end, we're the humans and the natives of this planet. We got nowhere to go and this world is our only home. Then why are people still insisting on destroying it? Do we deserve the fate of the dinosaurs?

Yes! People will say I'm crazy and stupid to talk about this issue but I'm just making my point clear. We can start to build the foundation of the UEG right now and the rest will be up to our descendants. We can't allow politics to ruin our future anymore. And, as for being dic(k)tated to by a Russian, Chinese, or North Korean, at present, I'm being dicated to by one of the most autocratic leaders in the world, he's stockpiling weapons of mass destruction which the UN aren't allowed to inspect, and he's threatening war with a number of countries... poverty does sound good but i dont think it is possible,there are more poor ppl than rich and we already uses alot resources and can just about survive on that, if the whole planet was not in poverty, we'd need another planet just for the resources.

Did you visited Singapore before? Yeah! Chewing was banned a long time ago because the stupid people who chewed the gums just sticked them all over the MRT cabins. It's not civilized!! Yes! We can spend more time on researching useful technologies that can boost our civilization to a higher level.

Poverty! Yes! There'll be poverty but everyone has the chance to resolve the ultimate problem together as a single human race. Poverty is everywhere and everyone should participate in the race to wipe out poverty. Rich people must contribute to the human society because they're the ones that control the Global Economy and that is a bit of socialism.

If you mix capitalism, democracy, socialism, republicanism and meritocracy together, what will you get in the end?

Tat's why we need the human race to unite together to develop our space technologies as soon as possible. Example: The International Space Station (ISS). It's a small step to realizing the dream of uniting the entire human race to accomplish one simple goal. That small step will determine the fate of humanity in the near future.

I have to disagree about this world government. The idea is ridiculous. I would much prefer decisions to be made by people who live in the same area I do, send their kids to the same schools, etc.. Who knows better how to run your neighborhood/town/city/state than the people who live there? Some beurocrat 6000 miles away doesn't have a personal interest in where you live. He's only interested in making laws and taxes that benefit his own constituants.
I may be criticized for saying this, but I believe the South should have won the American Civil War. Not because I'm racist (about as far from it as I can get). The South believed that individual states had the right to make their own decisions. Under the constitution, each state is a sovereign state, unified under a common federal government for trade and defense purposes only. One body should not have the power to make unilateral decisions for everyone. You think our leaders argue a lot? Could you imagine trying to enforce the same government and the same laws on different nations, with radically different belief and value systems?
No one knows better how to run your life than you do. Exercise that freedom. Don't give that power to someone half-way around the world. The U.S. and most other nations are sovereign nations, and most people are proud of ther countries and their way of life. I disagree with the guy that talked about the American Civil War.

Basically, the UEG is divided into several key agencies and the Global Assembly is composed of countless representatives from all over the world. Those politicians will be selected by their peoples to represent them in the 'Parliament'.

Thus, the massive political body is the main entity in the government. Those people will debate and create new policies that will benefit the world. The President and the Cabinet are there to implement the policies. The Global Assembly can even veto the President or Prime Minister's decisions.

There will be a unified constitution that is used around the world. Ridiculous? Have you ever met a person that does not do ridiculous things? Humanity is not perfect but we can make the world a better place.

As time passed, our descendants will know the true meaning of peace and harmony. Then all the old ways will be history. Like your concept on the South.
