splinter cell should I install

hi: all:t

I was installing this game using my hp cd-writer 8200ie and os is win 98,it was takeing too long to install so I said to hell with it:(
I stop the install and had it deleted,and you know what happens
you get a pop up staying do you want to do this and later on you get a message some files are share do you want to do this being
mad I click my mouse yes to all. than I decide what the hell go to reinstall ,nothing my cd-writer is not recognize ,cdrom does't work
don't know why .to make a long story short , my cd-writer works ,cdrom doesn't should I install splinter cell and is it worth it

Thats the motherbaord model, i believe thats an ECS, may be wrong though
