Please help me with some bios settings> I am building a p4- 2.4gig cpu with 533 FSB and a Soyo sy-p4s board using pc2700 memory (333mz).
What ratio do I need to choose for CPU FSB? DRAM FSB? My choices are 1:1, 3:$, 3:5, 4:3 and 4:5. Also what speed should I select for the CPU clock?
Thanks!

A clue, whatever your FSb is multiplying it by the ratio has to equall 333mz for the Dram. So if you cpu is running at 133mhz x 4 (to give you 533mhz) then to get 333mhz for the Dram your ratio would have to be 2.5 or 5/2 but you don't have that option so the intial bus speed must be 166 or 100 or something.

If you post back with the intial speed and multiplier, I can tell you exactly, but you should be able to work it out now. All this information will also be in the manual for the motherboard.

I guess the ratio would be 4:5 ie 133 for the cpu (133x4=533) to 166 for the dram (166 x2 =333). thus 133/166 = 4:5.
I couldn't find anything in the manual other than the list of ratios.

try it, and check what speed comes up for the cpu and then the memory right after it. This happens at the very first screen, just before hdd detection.

4.5 x 533 = 2.398

perhaps 2.3 ghz?

;)

PS: yep, 4:5 (133:166) is the ratio. You are spot on!!

2.4gHz = 133 x 18.0 multiplier ("533" x "4.5")
