I have been searching the web in vain on how to repair motherboards, what electronic parts to check with multitester, and what part is replaceable. Anybody can share a site for this? Only the basic component check and replacement, say, power transistors, capacitors, diode, etc.)-|

I do not know of any repair sites for mobo's due to their complexity and variety. I do know that the way to test a good motherboard is to plug it into a test system, which run a series of tests and a burn in which confirms it's saleability. It also tells you what has failed, LED seven is red, your IDE controller is dead, sort of thing. In addition, as almost all componets, save a few electrolytics, are surface mounted and flow soldered. You would need to be skilled to remove and replace the componet that failed. Also, as these are multilayered pcb's, you got no chance of repairing any substrate fault, unless the broken track is the top or bottom one. Cheaper to buy new.:)
