I see references to CPU temp's and case temp's all the time on SysOpt. How do you get those?

Temperature monitoring is dependent on which motherboard you have. Almost every board with VIA chipsets have temperature and fan monitors.

There are programs that come with motherboards (like the VIA hardware monitor) and there are aftermarket programs, like Motherboard Monitor (http://mbm.livewiredev.com/download5.htm) . There are also add on temperature probes with digital readouts that can help monitor the temps too.

If we know what your motherboard is, we could probably tell you if it has temperature monitoring or not.

Thanks. My newest with a VIA chipset is a Tyan S1590S (Trinity 100AT). My newest, period, is an Abit BX-133 RAID.

Thanks. I guess I shoulda read the manual but that particular system was assembled elsewhere from components I bought (a VERY long story there!) and was working when I got it. I'll check it out.

Well, according to Abit (http://www.abit.com.tw/english/product/motherboards/bx133.htm) , your BX133-RAID board does have hardware monitoring. I would recommend the Motherboard Monitor from my previous post, it works great, and can monitor in the background as an icon in the system tray (by the clock), all you have to do is move your mouse over it and it will display the current temperatures. Or you can open the dashboard and monitor temps, fans, and cpu speed & voltages.
