Im tryin to find out what my mainboard will support as far as Slot-A cpu's go. Its an Epox 7KXA with a VIA KX-133 chipset. I have a 750 MHz Slot-A on it now, and want to know how much more I can go but cannot find out anywhere Ive looked. If anybody here has ref. to this info, I would sure apprecitate it. Tryin to see if its upgradeable. Im running 128 megs of PC-133 sdram (Crucial) in it now, an me buddies tell me to stop being a cheapass and buy another stick.. would another 128 megs make any difference in performance running 98SE, ME or XP Pro? Thanks

ftp://ftp.epox.com/motherboard/support/Manual/cpu-support.pdf

This is the only thing that I could find at there site. Hope that it helps.

I think that another 128 would help for those OSes, especially since you have only 128 right now. You should see a slight speed increase too with a couple apps.

More memory is the way to go, you'll notice a lot better performance. If you max out the memory on that board and still want a processor upgrade, look up the BIOS updates for that board and they'll say what the max CPU supported is. A video card upgrade will also help improve performance.

Google is our god here at sysopt. :D

I found This (http://www.epox.com/html/motherboard.asp?product=EP-7KXA&lang=1), this (http://ad.goldenclick.ro/cgi-bin/ad.dll?getad&hid=755&bid=1&rt=0.1046975743105&url=www.somitronics.go.ro), this (http://www.epox.com/html/motherboard.asp?product=EP-7KXA&lang=1) and here's a whole load more results (http://www.google.com/search?q=Epox+7KXA&sourceid=opera&num=50&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8).

to answer your questions: yes you would benefit from more RAM and I think the slot A went up to 1GHz. so splash the cash to feed the need. :D

your board can support up to 768Mb RAM but you won't see any benefit over 512 unless you upgrade to 2K, NT or XP.

[Edit] the Recommended Processor List (ftp://ftp.epox.com/motherboard/support/Manual/cpu-support.pdf) indicates that your board will only support up to 900MHz if you have BIOS Rev.0.4, you can't get any higher unless you have the + model board and you're holding out on us.
