Am looking to put together a killer machine. sm8000 03-05-2003, 11:57 PM Depends on your budget, but Tyan's Tiger motherboards are worth considering. MSI also makes good dually boards. And someday, there may be a dual nForce2 board. In the meantime, check www.2cpu.com Disk11 03-07-2003, 08:42 PM You know XPs out of the box can't run in dual. You have to modify a bridge on the processor in order to run XPs in dual, but I forgot which one. It is quite easy to find though. Imperion1 03-08-2003, 12:16 AM Close the L7 bridges. lptech 03-08-2003, 12:27 AM Just as Disk11 and Imperion1 had said, you'd need to modify one of the CPU(s) in order to get it to work on a dual processor mobo, unless you use the Athlon MP processors instead! Again the Tyan brand mobos are well made to run dual Athlon MP CPU(s). MSI and Asus are also good dual processor mobos! It's better to run on AMD Athlon MP CPU(s) than trying to modify two AMD Athlon XP CPU(s)! Less work involved and no warranty issues since you don't have to modify to work on the dual CPU mobos!:) Disk11 03-08-2003, 12:02 PM Its so much cheeper though:p $1500-P4 gamer 03-08-2003, 04:22 PM Get MP's as they are tested to work together. The reg. XP's can cause all kinds of errors running dual and may even not work at times. The two cpu's must be like IDENTICAL in every way or dual is a joke more than a gain. Why do you think MP's cost more. For the testing and the fact that not all the cpu's are close enuff spec wise to do it. Only the real good ones get the mp rating. Get Mp's.;) SysOpt.com
