Time to totally "regress" Choose to install your vid card as a "standard VGA adapter" (this will clear anything that you have. Then search your registry and get rid of any NVidia references.

Then reboot and THEN go into the device manager and choose to "update" your drivers. Manually select the version of Det3 drivers you want to use and after it installs them REBOOT. After getting back into windows right click on the desktop and choose "properties" and set the resolution and depths and save those settings and now enjoy.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to boot into safe mode. And check your Display Adapter in Device Manager for multiple cards.
I usually have the standard vga still showing after I've upgraded the drivers.

I'm not having a good day today. First I download Detonator drivers 12.40 and latest via drivers. So I wanted to benchmark my pc before and after as I do whenever upgrading to see if it helps.

I want to say I upgraded my drivers over 20 times in the past year. I'm following the same procedure as usuall. I unzip the drivers, go to install new ones, show where they're at, windows being the idiot it is refuses to update and shows the already installed .inf file, I erase that file and do it again, it installs my new drivers, I restart, all it good. Done it many times the same way. But today, at the end of installing it tells me"error file was not located". Thats at the very end of copying the new drivers. Right were the black screen, where it usually tells me to restart. In the device manager it shows"!" after my display adapter, which means drivers are installed and I just need to reboot. Well, rebooting countless times and repeating the process countless times, no drivers are installed. I tried reinstalling every driver I ever had back from 6.50 to 12.40. Nothing. Same error everytime. On top of that Netzero's 40hrs run out, so here I am at the library. grrrrrrrr I'm so not happy. Time is of the essense. Thank you in advance.
