What is a fairly good cd media to use? And can you use a CD-R for data like files and such or is it recommended that a CD-RW is used?

I know I will never by Memorex blank cd media again! I got this spindle of a 100 blank cds and maybe one out of ten will burn. It doesn't matter what burner I use them in. They just spin and make a clicking sound and then they won't eject. I began to inspect the cds closer only to find many of them where warped and what looked to be watermark stains on the paper label of the cds.

I just bought a 5 pack of Maxell CD-R pro and have no problems with them. At first, I thought it was the writer and the program. I switched from Adaptec easy CD creator to Nero 5.5. and use a 4 year old Phillips 8x4x32 writer that came with this machine. But have only had problems with this spindle of CDs. I did use Memorex before, but never had trouble like this.

The difference between CDRW and CDR is only the amount of times you're able to write to it; you can use both for audio, data, mixed, etc...according to your needs. I'd include Memorex in the "good brands", maybe you just had bad luck and picked up some faulty products. Other nice brands are Sony, Phillips, TDK, etc...As to messing up CDs, that can happen not only because of the media, but also from hardware/software behaviour

Like Bipolar Bill said, Verbatim is good! I also use Imation, these are the only 2 brands I buy. My old burner and my new were too picky with other media.

Also stay with Nero, I'll never go back to Roxio CD creater Plat....no mas!

:D

I currently use Memorex discs, both the regular size and the mini discs. Verbatims are good as are Imations. I also bought some no-label 32x media from OfficeMax and they work fine. Go figure...:)

I use whatever is on sale, I usually only buy when I can get 50 for $5 or less after rebates. The last 3 spindles I got were free.
I've had good luck with Fuji, Imation, Sony, Generic ones with A T & T on them(came with free phone card), Verbatum, & yes even memorex. I'd say email them to complain & see if you can get any free stuff. If they are warped they are defective.
