Long story short -> i have this Ecs board ...2 probs .. after the 2000 screen with the progress bar it stalls for around 90 seconds at a blank screen before it loads my desktop.. also it has major issues with site security as it warns me every 2 seconds of expired certificates which annoyes me like crazy .. windows update does not werk unless i manually change it to "https" adding the s .. ive updated all patches driver's update's etc , ive disabled the settings that check the certif's as well yet it still pop's up and its frustrating // all the same parts on a diff board , same windows cd as well has 0 issues at all and no lock up on booting !!! // so that leads me to belive its an issue with the board as its the only different piece.. i cant figure it out and Ecs wont respond .. ne suggestions by all you experts ??
hopefully a new linux partion will avoid all these issue's as im praying they are windows issue's and linux my bypass them
thx Brown

You didn't just swap out the motherboard and use the old Windows setup did you?

Why don't I ever have problems like this?
The HTTPS thing is easy to fix - create a new shortcut or modify what you have.
90 sec is too long to wait for anything with Win2000. There's something wrong with your AGP drivers, most likely. Install the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers and then Service Pack 3.
I don't run Win2K on my main machine, but I've never seen a certificate issue like that. Generally, that's all handled by Internet Explorer itself. Just the same, type GPEDIT.MSC in a Run dialog and open her up. Look in there for Certificate behavior.

i installed the 4 in one driver that came with the board on cd , i refuse to use service pack 3 as i find it causes more probs than good .. however i did try it out jsut to see if it would work.. still locks up .. the security thing is gay but i can deal with it ... its the stalling on boot that make me worry about performance etc.

If it's temporary, it's not a lockup. It's the video drivers loading. Update those drivers.
When you install Windows, the very first thing to install is the motherboard drivers. If you do anything else first, you're making a big mistake.

The browsing issue certainly is NOT a mainboard hardware or driver issue. Sort out your browser installation, that's all.
Regarding the long delay whilst Windows is booting. Got any mass storage adapters that are enabled but nothing attached to it? (Like onboard RAID!?)

I've already done all of this // the first thing i did was the mobo drivers like u said then thre rest of drivers and updates // i'm not convinced its not the board since this hardrive/vid card/ram in another sys has no poblems at all // I was assuming its one of two things // Ecs has a issue with some boards and compatiblility as i have seen a cpl similar posts but not to many // i really cant find any more software solutions that i see and now honestly im not a newb so i've thought this through ; ) ne ways keep the help coming cuz these answer at least assure im not losing my mind lol

I'll say it once again: Your internet problems are not hardware related. It's a browser setup problem.
Strange how everytime something's over the user's head, the ECS board must be **** "because I've heard of it", and expert advice cannot possibly be right.

Dood im not an idiot it's not over my head /// i've tried about 15 diff install on like 9 partitions ive set up // tried diff versions of ie dif versions of my detenator drivers diff everything // all these parts on another version of the exact same mobo will werk fine with out even any updates at all.... it runs smother // So dood just because this problem is over YOUR head as well since YOU havent come close to solving it you dont have to say im a noob who cant handle this board .. the fact is i've already tried everything suggested here already 9 ways from sunday and the reason i look for help is that i DO understand boards like this i do know a fair amount of puters and i was hoping for some answer from ppl with sim problems not an angry person telling me i'm dumb cuz i cant solve the same problem u cant solve. ;)

Well since you think you're the biggest expert here, then go and solve your problem on your own. Don't stumble across your ego. I have better things to do than teach people how to set up their browsers correctly - a thing that won't happen automagically after the 20th installation either.

All motherboard makers turn out an occasional lemon. If you think it's the board, return it and stop fighting it. If it happens again with the same item, I would suggest that something else is wrong - like a bad Windows CD or bogus memory.
Peter is right though - lumping the browser issue in with suspected hardware problems is unfair to ECS and what we call "loading a flame" (actually, I just made that up :p ).
