I have a black case but becuase it is not plastic, the paint scracthes off when I move my comp...
my question is, has anyone had any experiences similar to this?
and two does spray paint work to correct the problem?
for instance two coats of spray paint and one coat of gloss?

If you mean you want to repaint, I'd suggest that you lightly go over the entire case (after removing all the insides) with a fine grit emery cloth, about a 600 or 800 grit. Then use some steel wool, a triple 0 will do. Now, get a good primer, such as a Krylon flat black. Remove all the dust created by the sanding. Prime the case and let dry, once it's done, another thin coat won't hurt. Then, using a good brand of spraypaint (Krylon or another name brand) give it a couple of nice thin coats to avoid runs or sags. Let it dry. You can clear coat if you want to.
Some people use automotive quality paints, but that would be for a more custom job than just a recoat.:D

yup, I want to repaint..i don't have to remove the insides becuase all the side panels pop off...
so your instructions are as follows...
sand it all off,
prime coat
secondary coat
other coats
clear coat
done

If all the panels come off, great, you can leave it assembled.
You don't have to remove all the old paint, sometimes it is difficult because the metal has a texture to it. But, rough it up good so that the new paint will have something to adhere to.
Yes, follow the instructions on the paint as far as time between coats too. :D

Probably a stupid question but I was wondering if it would have to be special paint to stand the heat or whatever?

As they have all said you have to sand a bit, then prime then paint. It is best to sand lightly a couple times on both the primer and paint. Do not sand last coat of paint.
Using Auto paint should withstand some good heat and is made form metal.
I have used Vinyl dye on the plastic parts since it sinks into the plastic. You have to scratch it bad to see it. You can get this at most auto stores.
Keep in mind to do this right it should take a couple days. Have to let it dry before sanding.

If your computer gets so hot you need Hi-Temp paint, you have trouble other than needing a paint job:D

Dupli-Color Metalcast paint can make metal look anodized. Very flashy if you're into that kinda thing. :)
