XP pro or W2K pro?

I am buying a new laptop (2.4 ghz 512mb ram) and am trying to decide on the OS. The cost is the same for either OS because I am getting it through a site license at my school. I use W2K pro and am quite happy with it and feel it is faster than XP but I am somewhat concerned about it becoming outdated and support discontinued. I plan on using my laptop for at least 3 years and am just wondering if I will run in to problems down the road like for example Windows9x is starting to not be supported by various new hardware.

I'd say try the xp pro since you've already tried 2k and probably have the disk and getting a good deal might as well get something you don't have. I doubt that you will be disappointed with xp.

If you disable enough stuff, XP is 2k. :p

Disabling the cartoon interface was the first thing I did once I got into XP's desktop. :p

The builtin picture viewer is nice. :)

I use XP Style to get rid of the AOL interface. :)

btw: I just had to do a clean reinstall and was able to reactivate via the internet. Anybody know how much time has to elapse before you can reactive this way?

Im still not convinced entirely by XP, my heart reamisn with 2k

Having said that if you want sumink that will more or less set everything up by itself then XP pro is the boy.

I still prefer 2k, because I don't like XP squealing to brother Gates whenever I change something. But with a laptop it is not so much a problem.

well, well, well, having had used both and having had like 2000 Pro from the start, I think you should stick with 2K Pro... beside XP is a colorful 2000 Pro with spyware built in...

My heart is with 2K, not because of privacy concerns, but for speed and the fact I prefer to start with a nice interface which allows others to fack the hell out of it making it "nice" or "easy to use" rather than the other way around.
