I was thinking... i know that there are things called hidden files, but is it possible to put a bunch of files in a folder, and then hide the folder (and thus the files)???
next question: If the above idea ispossible, then is there a way to burn a hidden folder onto a cd so that when people who aren't looking for the folder look at the cd, it looks blank??
thanks

In Windows Explorer, if you right click on a file or folder and then click on Properties, you can check "Hidden". However, if Windows Explorer is set to Show All Files, the hidden items are revealed.
but Roy - how many times have you looked on CD's for hidden folders?
For the most part - it depends on the user preferences set up in the view options if windows explorer....
Question is - what are you trying to hide and why - if we knew that - we might be able to give you some better suggestions.... One is to burn the CD in a different file format - like dragging and dropping NTFS files onto a CD that is otherwise FAT file format - Anyone on a non-NT box probably couldn't read it....

well, after I posted last night, I realized that I already knew the answer to the first question, so thanks anyway on that one...
axel - in answer to your question, I'm not really trying to hide anything yet, but I was thinking exactly the question that you asked roy - "how many times have you looked on CD's for hidden folders?"
and it occured to me that I really haven't ever done it... I actually have windows set to show everything, so I assume that applies to whatever opens on CD's, but I don't know for sure...
as far as the format thing is concerned, I would prefer to have it work on the fat system... that way, let's say I went to a school computer and accidently left the cd in the machine, unless someone was actually looking for it, they would most likly just figure that it was a blank CD...
it's not so much ideas for use as of yet, because there's no point in thinking about that until I know if it can be done... you know what I'm saying??
let me know if you have any further thoughts!
thanks

The pc-magic(magic folder)software hides the folders and files in a fantastic way. Once hidden it will not be shown in any way except by invoking the password and making the folders visible. This software is very much proven and reliable:
