Converting VCR tapes to DVD..........

Can it be done, and how big of a computer do I need? I know there are different formats of DVD recorders, I need one that's compatible with standard DVD players that you hook up to the TV. If you get some type of vid capture card, how much RAM and hard drive will you need to capture 1 1/2 hour tape? I'm not trying to do anything illegal here, just convert our wedding tapes to DVD.

At this point in time, it'll probably be easier to convert such to a VCD, rather than a DVD.
