ctrl+alt+delete=different colorored numbers \\ shut down=blue screen please help

when i press ctrl alt delete to restart sometimes i get a whole screen full of different colored letters and numbers, i think it is a virus, if you know what it is can you tell me how to get rid of it? also, sometimes when i shut down my computer i get a blue screen, when i press ok the computer turns off.

also i cant use antivirus on this computer because it makes it cr vash (that is explained in a different post)
any help or ideas are appreciated

Check your memory and your video card, one of them is defective (or both http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ), try downloading newest video drivers, also, if you can, post the number in the text of BSOD, like "0028:7778"
