I am having all sorts of problem after installing my new Sound Blaster 512 PCI. The main thing is that it locks up my computer whenever I start playing a game. I've looked & see no conflicts under my system devices. My specs are: Thunderbird 850@969, msi k7t pro 2-a mobo, ati rage fury pro video card, 384 megs ram. One helpful? piece of information is that whenever I start a game I notice a few lines on my monitor that don't match the game. The monitor ends up shutting down first & then the system. This mobo has onboard sound but I have disabled it in the bios so I am totally confused. This is my first non-onboard sound & it's driving me nuts. HELP!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

you say that the monitor than the system shut off by itself? my monitor was doing that when my video card was overheating. might want to lower your cpu speed and see if that helps. a lot hardwares do not like it when you overclock and act up.

I've dropped my cpu back down to 850 & the monitor still shuts down. It sounds like my computer is still running though.

The sound blaster 512 uses the same chip as the sound blaster live. These cards have issues with AMD/VIA combos. You need to get the latest BIOS update for your motherboard and also the latest VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers.
