Whenever I copy an autocad drawing either by windowing or by copy extents option and paste the same in word file the entire screen display is pasted in the word file. This leads to reduction of size and clarity of the drawing so pasted. How to overcome this problem so that the size and clarity are improved in the word file?

Why are you wanting to put it into a word document?
I quess the best way to do it is save it as a .tif or .bmp image and open it in either imaging or paint and then do a Print screen.

Thanks for the suggestion from Mr.Sabbath. This sort of pasting .dwg in .doc files are essential for preparing manuals and reports for which the picture and font clarity are very important. But if they are pasted in .bmp or .tif format in the word file the clarity of picture and font are lost.I have tried this many times and found not useful. Is there any other way of doing? Infact, I doubt it is a limitation with Autocad features. When I tried to export the Autocad drawing in .bmp format only a blank screen is exported(using Autocad 2000i).I hope Autodesk should come out with a solution which will enable to copy and paste the required portion of a drawing without any extra unwanted blank space surrounding it so that the picture and font clarity are not lost.

After a few trials, I myself have found out a simple solution for this problem. The solution is like this: simply paste the drawing in the word file. Use "crop" facility in the "format object" (right mouse click)and crop the unwanted portions. Then resize the drawing to the required percentage say 200% or so. The drawing thus pasted does not loose clarity in picture and font. Using any other method like converting to .BMP or .TIF leads to loosing of clarity of picture and font. The moral is: Solutions for many of our problems are very simple and within our reach; but does not strike us immediately. But a persistent effort gives us the solution. Thanks for all.
All you should do is click the drawing you want, press "Alt+Print Screen", then tab to the document and press "Control+V"
If that doesn't work, make sure your document format is not in word 95/5 compatible formatting.
