Yeah i got the 12/10/32s (Internal) and its absoloutly beautiful. It really does show that you pay money and (in most cases) you get quality. Its also BURNPROOF - supports buffer under runs which happen on most standard cd-writers. If you want to achieve the best i would go for one of these. check out their home page reviews! Happy Hunting!

Chalk another one up for the PlexWriter 12/10/32... I love mine.
Buffer UnderRuN-Proof is an absolute must IMHO. Regular CD-R(W)'s ruin the disc if the data flow is interupted even briefly during the write process. BURN-Proof drives have the ability to turn off the laser and pause the write process until the data flow is restored.

There's only two "good" IDE burners Plextor and TDK. Basicly they are the same thing just with different software bundle. Look for "burn proof". That's the hot thing right now.
A massive buffer does the trick of burnproof also. Unless you really do alot of intensive stuff while burning. (This is only in case burnproof models cost noticeably more). Burnproof might be adviseable with fast writing speeds. I noticed that my hd couldn't keep up with the burning speed of 12x and a 4MB buffer ran out of data in few seconds. (I really don't know the prices in US but I paid $120 (a month ago) for my Philips4x4x24,2MB buffer and no burnproof).
Plextor is praised everywhere =)

Avoid Hewlett Packard like the plague. I paid £175 ($275)for an HPCDRW less than 2 years ago and its ****. Wont copy anything anymore. I fancy the plextor models.

Oh, and it's burn proof, and supports
clone cd, it's very fast, I burned something in six minutes I think, not sure, it was very late hehe
I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a plextor, who knows?

I love my Plextor 12/10/32.
Paid $235 a few months ago ( I think you can get it for around $170 now)
My coffee table is starting to get rings on it on cause I havent burned a coaster since I bought it.
I read a magazine article comparing the Plexy 12/10/32 with the TDK Velocity.
They said it is pretty much the exact same drive , except the TDK comes with Nero, not EZ creator.
( BTW they made the TDK #1 cause of the software)
Kinda like:
Plextor - 10
TDK - 10.1

If I'm not mistaken, all the 12x10x32 burn proof cd-rw's are spinoff's of Sanyo, the company that developed the burnproof technology.
I do not know if they are all just renamed or re-engineered, but just thought I'd share that.

Well...a day late again I see. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I use Sony. I have three of them, and no problems at all. The ones I have, 8 X 4 X 32 do not support burn proof, but thats something you CAN do without if you have a good buring application like CloneCD and some good ram, ect. I have never created a coaster yet, but I'm carefull too.
You can get a new Sony at Egghead for less than $100 bucks with a rebate from Sony (which takes about two months to get your mail in rebate back...bummer on that)
