I would like some help if anyone can suggest a program to lock selected file.
Let me explain some.
I have 2 young children and would like to block them from my pic files as some of the stuff on there is best kept for adults.

Thanks
Haggis

How about a zip disk or a removable hard drive . . . and a safe.

I would like to keep these images in my first hard drive because I send them to freinds as e-mail attachments the content is not overly offencive (mostly jokes and such) but at the same time I dont think that it is suitable for young ones.
I am sure I have seen a program such as I am looking for but can't remember where.

I'm sure there is probably some other program, but just use winzip and pack the files together in one file. Then password protect the file in Winzip. This way you can still have easy access, but others have to get the password.

Check out a program called "Magic Folders" i believe you can download a shareware copy from http://www.download.com or somewhere like that. It will take any folder that you select, and make it completely invisible, even to windows, so it looks as though it doesn't even exist.. When you want to view the folder, open Magic Folders, enter your password, select "unhide files & folders" and the folder will reapear.. There are also other programs, that don't hide the folder, but lock them, such as Macafee Fortress, and a ton of others, check out a download site, such as download.com (link above) and search for "protect folders" "hide folders" "etc." You should be able to come up with something usefull!

...there's a program called Norton Secret Stuff that allows you to password protect folders w/o zipping them...never tried it
but it might serve your needs.

Doesn't pgp encrypt files for you upon asking? You might want to do that.

Thanks to everyone that helped out. I found about 20 different progs that do the things I was looking for at www.download.com (http://www.download.com) as suggested.
Thanks again for all your help

See my page at www.cjtyler.com (http://www.cjtyler.com)
Either a simple but very secure program like Blowfish CS 2.11 [free] or Bestcrypt 6.07 which can make an encrypted virtual drive. The encrypted virtual drive is REAL cool but it's not free.
