Do "they" (like hardware people) make splitters for standard network cable (CAT5 or what have you)? I know they make them for like phone cords and stuff, but I want to know about network cables. We have our Cable Internet shared through our house, and one computer is way at the other end of the house. It took a 100 foot cable to go to the other end of the house and get it hooked into the internet. Now my brother is coming home from college and will be staying out in that same room for the summer. He wants his computer on the internet too. We don't want to have to spend so much money on a big@$$ cable just for two months, so if they make network cable splitters, let me know, and if you know anything like pricing or where to get em let me know too. Thanks.

I believe you can just uplink another hub to the one I'm assuming you're using already. I can't remember if the CAT5 goes from the secondary hub's uplink port to a port on the primary hub, or if it's the other way around.

Well the problem with that is that we already have the cable modem uplinked to the main hub, so we can't uplink something else http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif. any new ideas?

You can do what was suggested by Mr. Goodbytes.Connect the long cable you already have to the uplink port of a new hub, then run the existing computer to the new hub. When your brother arrives, he just has to plug in to the new hub. I do that here for a connection downstairs..I only wanted to run that wire once...
