Hi,

I'm thinking of upgarding my current mobo ( ABIT kt7a ) to the ASUS A7N8X deluxe. I will be swapping components over but I would need new DDR memory. This mobo can take several flaovrs of memory but I would start from a limited CPU choice: a Tbird 1.4Ghz (133x2 fsb).

Can I install the best memory the ASUS mobo would accept and not have any issues with the cpu. Say 400 DDR. Would my choice of cpu underclock the memory?

This is so when I next update my CPU to a 333 fsb Athlon the DDR would still stay. The sys to start would be:

Asus A7n8x deluxe
Athlon tbird 1.4 ghz (266)
GeForce3 ti 200
40gb WD hd 7200rpm IDE
Audigy 1
DVD decoder card
56k pci modem
512 mb DDR
zip 100
dvd player
CDRW
400 wtt ps

Thanks for any ideas. I don't intend to OC the sys.

Underclock? No - but you wouldn't be using it to it's potential. Whatever you do on the nForce, keep the CPU and memory buses synched. Use two sticks if you can for dual-channel.
