i installed a samsung dvd-rom sd-608 in a amd duron 800 asus a7v. i have a great looking pic. but the sound skips. any ideas? on board sound and 3dforce2-mx.

on board sound
The software dvd decoder offloads alot of work to the sound card chipset. Unfortunately the on-board stuff just isnt up to snuff.
Disable it in the bios and via jumper if required and install a 45 buck Soundblaser Live Value! card and you will be loving life (you also gain true 4 point surround sound ability which will make watching some of those movies feel like your at the movie house)
