You gotta pay for quality :D Maybe they're gathering some economic support so they can lower prices when competition shows up...

I haven't been looking, so I haven't noticed... But since for the immediate future they do hold the title for the most powerfull card, and their budget line is also giving nVidia a run for their money, they're gonna milk it for all they can.

Since nVidia has announced that the FX is stillborn, what do you expect? Supply and demand.

Dang I wanted Nvidia to at least do good enough to lower prices so I could get a decent video card.:(
Hopefully they pull something out of thier hat soon, I like competition.

Until another comparible solution hits the store shelves, why wouldn't the prices rise? It's not as if ATI has suddenly increased the cost of the cards to resellers. The rise is likely due to retailers realizing that demand for the product is exceeding their supply due to a lack of competition, hence the price increase. I do believe the MSRP on 9700 pros is still $399 US (ati.com), so anything less than 400 bones is still a deal. In the end, the card is worth what you are willing to pay for it.;)

If your the best, you can screw people over on your prices, because ppl will pay for the best. Intel, Nvidia and MS have been doing it for years, now its Ati's turn.
