Got a friend who's looking at the Thermalright fans....SLK800??
Not sure if that's right. He wants it to cool and be quite...hey but don't everybody!:D
I haven't had any experience with Thermalright stuff, so I don't know.
Any thoughts??? Suggestions??
Thanks:t

i think you are trying to say
"Looking for quiet fans that actually cools"
rather than
"Looking for fans that are quite cool"
right? :p ;)
well for the first one i'll suggest any 4000+ RPM series of fan with a Deep Tunnel
but, if you are on the 2nd one, then yeah those Thermatakes with nice colors are cool :D

LOL, a classic case of confusing quite and quiet.
TweakerXP, I'd put a mid-speed sunon 92mm fan on the SLK-800 Thermalright heatsink if you want the best compromise between noise and cooling. They are not quiet fans, but at the same token not unacceptably loud.

yeah, after reading what I wrote, I think he wants one that "will cool" and fairly quite. Don't think looks matters because his system has no windows and he doesn't care for the mod stuff.
I have been reading about the thermalright coolers and they seem to cool very well. But I know that the delta fans are LOUD but they move quite a bit of air too.
Is there a fan out there that we could put on top of the thermalright that will move some air and not sound like an airport??

This is a good review of fans:
http://www.dansdata.com/coolercomp.htm#3aproto
I have a swiftech mcx462 and a volcano 7+. The swiftech is loud, sort of low pitched, and will cool almost anything. The volcano has 3 speed settings, and the low one keeps my o/c system barely cool enough at the low setting. (47C) At the medium setting it is about average noisy and that is what I will probably use in the summer. The high setting is good for burn ins and is a cross between a lear and a citation.
