BipolarBill 02-18-2003, 08:39 PM It's not worth the trouble unless you're in a competition with another nerd to squeeze every last bit of performance from a CPU. peek 02-18-2003, 09:31 PM ok I didnt think that it would make a noticable gain in performance. bassman 02-19-2003, 04:55 AM Wouldn't hurt to read this (http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20020507/index.html) and this (http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20020905/kt400-04.html) . peek 02-19-2003, 07:52 AM thanks for those links. Bigjakkstaffa 02-19-2003, 08:10 AM It's not worth the trouble unless you're in a competition with another nerd to squeeze every last bit of performance from a CPU. LOL, yeah theonly reason i fiddle with my timings rather than using a preset is to take em backover to try and gain more o/c stability --Jakk:t Beeblequix 02-19-2003, 11:10 AM I'd kindly have to disagree with the "not worth the trouble arguement". The 'trouble' only amounts to about 30 seconds of actual work: 1) booting into BIOS, 2) lowering CAS, CAS to RAS, and RAS 3) saving changes 4) booting up as normal. For only ½ minute labor, is it not worth it? I make a case that it is. regards, ßeeßle Qµ!x [i]Let your rig so forth shine, they they may see that it works, and glorify thy moderator which is in Sysopt. BipolarBill 02-19-2003, 11:28 AM I did that once and the PC seized up tight. That's trouble. All for the nebulous benefit of a 5% increase in the memory bus speed, which is only part of the puzzle to begin with./ AllGamer 02-19-2003, 11:39 AM I agree with Bill, unless you are nerdy :p it's not worth tweaking the RAM, to then end up with more trouble that you can handle most people WILL forget it was due the RAM tweak but things like program crashing, with weird error messages, or something freezing, and random reboots are also caused just by switching from 2.5 to 2 or even maybe 2 commands to 1 command per clock. or worse case scenario fiddling with the Voltage :x so no, just trying to squeze that .05 % inclease in stupid scores vs Stability definitely not worth it, unless you are 110% absolutely sure you know your stuff, and you know what you are actually teawking :t On a Side NOTE: yes it takes only 15 seconds to set the timings but it takes at least 5 hours to run the tests to guaranteed Stability after each changes :D Beeblequix 02-19-2003, 12:58 PM ...unless you are 110% absolutely sure you know your stuff I know my stuff. :) And I'm a right sexy beast (Fat ******* Style) :x Fat ßeeßle peek 02-19-2003, 04:46 PM Thanks I probaly mess with them when I overclock my xp1800 tbred when I get a new heatsink cause I'm using a stock thing right now.
