Recently computer developed bad sectors on hd and could not load windows 98. Finally managed to format hd. Had to reinstall windows98. Now modem and ethernet (onboard) do not work. Even sound card wouldn't work, but I managed to get it operational. Have tried going through same process and system says it finds new plug & play and installs the software but still doesn't work. Leads me to my question:

On the CD provided with the system, there are several application files: 1. OEMSetup, 2. Setup, 3. Admin, & 4. _isdel. Another file "setup" is an Internet Communication type file. Is there a particular order to start or will running the Setup appl. file do all of the rest? Will this return the system to the original configuration?

Any assistance will be appreciated. :t

Further info: provided CD labeled "pc100 systemboard" v5.1 with IDE Drivers, VGA Drivers, Sound Drivers, V.90 Fax/Modem Drivers, 10/100M LAN Drivers, PC-cillin 98' (OEM), AMI Desktop Client Manager, Gamut 98, MediaRing Talk, Super Voice

after you install Win98 that SIS mobo, with onboard everything

for them to work, you need to install each of those APPS

and run SETUP.EXE

they wont install manually via PnP

bad sectors are physical defects on the drive. it's like hard drive cancer. I would get another drive before you waste more time on a bad drive.
