HI,
I replaced an ATX Form Card on my mother board because my mouse stopped working, also the USB ports quit. The system is a Super Socket 7, with a Sis 530 chipset from PCCHIPS. The processor is a AMD-6 400. Currently running Win XP Pro. The OP previously was WinME. Is there a solution besides replacing the motherboard?

Solution to what? You didn't mention your current problem.

You've lost the power supply to the ATX form card, possibly to overcurrent from an USB device, or because of a hot plug attempt on the mouse. Track the power trace back, see if you see a burned spot or find a fuse to replace.

Hi Gang,
My problem is the mouse port will not let my mouse work also USB ports are not working.
Did not see any burnt spots and where are fuses located, if any, on this board?

Please clarify - you replaced what? Did you put a new form card in and still can't get it to work?

My mouse stopped working. I have an ATX Form Card that I thought was the cause of the problem. I replaced the card and the mouse still does not function. Also the USB ports on the card do not work. The board is a 598MRL from PCCHIPs with a SiS 530
chipset. Currently running WinXP with AMD-6 processor at 400 Mhz. Previous OS was Win ME.
Everything else works fine.

Try clearing CMOS on the motherboard. If that fails, the form card circuit is likely dead.

It's trashed. You probably ESD'd it in a hot-plug attempt as Peter mentioned.:(

Might check in the bios and make sure the PS/2 mouse and the USB ports aren't disabled. Just a thought. If the ATX form card circuit is bad, some of these boards have a seperate PS/2 connector on the board or you could use a serial mouse. Also you could install a seperate pci card with usb ports on it.
Compgeeks has a PCI USB 2.0 card for $10.65
