I'm in need of some opinions on a decent sound card. I went out last week and bought a SB PCI512. Sound was great!!! Turned the EAX on and it crackled like a bowl of rice krispies. Doing some research (unfourtunatly after the fact) I found out about the whole VIA-SB problem. My board is a Soyo 5ema Pro with an ETEQ chipset (Take off the stickers and it says VIA). Well I took the SB back, and was on the hunt again.
I deceided to do a little research this time and just heard wonderful things about the Philips Acoustic Edge. So I bought it. IT SUCKS!!! My old Aztech ISA sounds better than this. In general I guess Its not that bad, but the the reverb effects are very weak. Many things don't work. And this just hasn'e been very pleasant.

So, anybody now of a sound card that's out there that actually worth a $100. Id love to have a SB but I jus built this computer and I'm not swaping board over a sound card.

Thanks in advance!

I have heard some really good things about the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card. It supports Digital audio and is compatible with A3D and Environmental Audio. You can get one for around 80 bucks. I'd go with that.
