I think my cd rom drive went bad just now. It's an I/O Magic 50x drive. I was using it earlier today but all of a sudden it doesn't read any cd's I put in it. I checked the settings & somehow it had been disconnected. I reconnected it in the device settings but it still won't recognize anything. Is it bad?? It's only 3 months old. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

try deleting it in device manger and rebooting to let it detect it. if you still cant read various cd's you might want to try the cdrom in another machine. its definitely possible for drives to die early.

Also disconnect it from the systemboard. Then see if Windows detects it.

I have tried removing it from the system device profile & it still doesn't work. Windows is recognizing the cd rom drive. I'll try disconnecting it from the board next.

Thanks,
Mike
