I have a server running Backoffice 4.5. We only have 7 computers on the network. I have been having problems with backoffice server ( somehow it change back to an old password, users cannot connect to the network all of a sudden, etc.) I wanted to just change the OS to 98 and just use a workgroup instead of a domain. What steps will I have to take to make sure all of the computers in the office can connect to this new server?

Keep the Same Computer NAME, and same IP Address

Delete the domain and create the workgroup then reboot.

How would I go about deleting the domain? And are you talking about the client machines?

If the server you're talking about is the Primary Domain Controller, on formatting, it will...not be anymore. You'll then have to change the settings concerning domain/workgroup on the client PCs.
Are you going with Win98 for the server?!

yes I am just wanting to set up a peer-to-peer network. We have an Access database that everyone in the office must be able to access. Plus an internet connection.

On the client machines.

Also check into using analogx.coms proxy server program for Internet Connection Sharing. It is free and takes only seconds to configure.

get a router for your internet sharing.

Even in peer to peer, a server OS would be a better choice. Win98 has very little security. I wouldn't want to put confidential information on a win98 machine.
