Hi all! I've been reading my manuals in preparation for building and I have a question I couldn't find the answer to.

My Motherboard (GA-8PE667 Ultra 2) comes with 2 onboard USB's and a 4 port USB bracket. I have two front USB's on my case and wanted to connect only 2 of the USB's on the bracket so I could use the fronts as well. When I looked at the wires for the front, they are different than the wires on the bracket. The front connectors have two leads (one labeled VCC, USB2-, USB2+, GND, and the other VCC, USB1-, USB1+, GND). The bracket connectors are labeled in the manual as:

1. Power
2. Power
3. USB DX-
4. USB Dy-
5. USB DX+
6. USB Dy+
7. GND
8. GND
9. No Pin
10. USB Over Current

Can I use the fronts even though the connectors are not the same?

Sorry this is so long. I'm trying to provide as much info as possible and probably forgot something.

Thanks

Vcc to Power
minus to minus (X on one side and Y on the other)
plus to plus (X on one side and Y on the other)
GND to GND

Leave the others disconnected. :t

Hey Bill,

I looked again at the connectors and noticed that the Front USB connectors on the case have the VCC, USB2-, USB2+, GND and the same for the USB1....BUT...there is another GND connection. the four I mentioned in the post plus another one on each connector (a wire goes from the GND on the main connector to a seperate connector for GND as well.

Any suggestions. Can I leave them off??

Leave them off - they're redundant grounds.
