Well as I am overclocking this board, it seems like 200FSB really needs voltage, and that makes it unstable. I can run 200FSB at 10x stable.. maaaybe 10.5.

Where is the medium to all of this?

Would it be better to back the FSB down to 160-170, maybe 180 and up the multi to obtain a higher overall clock speed?

What yields the best performance? Is there some sort of rule of thumb here?

IE: if you can go at 160+FSB X 15 multi equalling 2400Mhz then you are better off than 200FSB x 10 = 2000Mhz. Or is the 200Mhz FSB pull off the better performance overall regardless of it lacking 400Mhz in the top end?

Thanks for any and all opinions here!

P.S. What is the highest I can set Vdimm Voltage to be safe?

2.77? Higher lower?

Thanks!

i'm pretty sure your bus speed will give you your best over all performance but that of course relies on your ram/mobo and if you have dividers and such..... but i think if your fsb is as high as you can go your gonna get the best performance for yoru comp

Dude I figured this would be pretty common knowledge for authorities on the subject. I didn't know this topic had such varieties in it?

I do run benchmarks, but I don't want to have to test every mhz and multiplier setting for the next week to find out what direction I should take. I have taken the general consensus that within reason the highest FSB you can achieve is best.

fsb usually give a higher performance than cpu speed at a same mhz.

u can always vddmod your mobo to get the last bit of fsb out of it.
mobo like 8rda can run at 210-230mhz stable with some vddmod.

try this forum for vmod, vddmod, vdimmmod and many more........

Ath,

Thanks for the extra forum to post to! Hehe, that makes 5 I will have continuously open.

As for the VDD mod.. I know that is the last resort on squeezing out FSB. However, given that my PSU is generic I am going to wait till I get a quality one before I attempt it, if I do.

The vdd mod seems a bit dangerous to me, although I sometimes go a little overboard on things, so if I can't get the magic "200fsb" I want then I will probably go there.

Either of these 2 things are occuring.

1) My rev 1.1 8RDA+ mobo has a A2 N-Bridge stepping, giving me my troubles.

2) My powersupply is just a piece of ****, and with all the fans and overclocking pulling on it, it just isn't allowing my board to be stable enough and powerful enough to support 200FSB+.

Thanks again
