caddmannq,

Have you ever used a product called Softplan? I have a client who has a dual CPU PIII 1000mHz with 1GB RAM. We had Win2k on it and it ran Softplan 11 like gangbusters, but it wouldn't run Softplan 10, which he claims he needs also. Now he wants Win98 on the machine instead, but of course it runs like a dog on Win98. My question is, can you run two different versions of Softplan on the same machine?

To anyone else, am I right in thinking it's a stone waste of horsepower to run Win98 on a dual CPU with that much RAM?

in answer to your second question, yes ... that will be quite a waste considering that win98 will only recognize one of the processors and its method of 'memory management' leaves a lot to be desired so although you may have a lot of ram in the machine, it won't be used efficiently.

Considered giving Cadmannq an e-mail?

I should probably just do that. I know he's off fishing this week, the lucky sod. I didn't want to presume I could just e-mail him about it, though. Hence the bump.

I'll wait till he's back and bump it again. I just didn't want it to disappear into the black hole of the Archives.
