I don't get it...

When I used to open Windows Explorer, my "status" bar is usually up. Then about 2 days ago, I double click on IE and the status bar is gone. When I check it on the view drop down menu, it appears, but when I close, and open IE again, it doesn't show. How can I make the Status bar defaultly appear when I open up IE?

Bring up the status bar again. Click File > New > Window and then close with File > Close instead of the X in the upper right corner.
