I am running XP Pro on my laptop. When I try to access my laptop form my other PC's over my network I get a login error. It says something like you are not allowed to logon to this computer please contact your network admin.
I use to be able to access it just fine but one day out of the blue I got the login error. I can still access other PC’s on my network with my laptop but not my laptop with my other PC’s. Has anyone seen this or know how to fix it?

do you have the xp firewall or any other firewall enabled? are you sure the login account is setup properly on the xp system?

The XP firewall is disabled it was the first thing I checked. It had me running around in circles for hours when I first started using XP.
I am running Norton Internet Security which I configured for my network with the wizard utility. I have the same error with it enabled and disabled.

Is file sharing enabled on the laptop? Have you installed an antivirus package with a firewall built in?

File sharing is enabled and yes Norton Internet Security Came with Norton Antivirus 2003 but they seem to work separately from each other well at least you can configure them separately.

Disable the firewall for a few minutes and try again. You may also have to specifically add each IP on your LAN to the trusted zone in Norton.

Still no joy :( Doesn't work with firewall software disabled. Well I guess I will just start playing around with my network settings and admin settings etc.
