I have a P6S5AT motherboard which was installed on my computer when I originally bought it in April 2001.
I do not know if the motherboard is the problem, but I have not been able to keep my system year set at 2003.
I have reset the year to 2003:
-From the Windows 98 task bar
-From the control panel
-In DOS
-In CMOS set up
The month, date and time are always correct but the computer boots up as year 2002.
Has anyone ever heard of this problem? If so, is it related to the motherboard?

Have you updated the BIOS yet?

I don't know what you are suggesting about the BIOS update or how to go about it.

The BIOS is software embedded in a chip on your motherboard. It's the power behind the POST sequence - what happens when you first start the PC and before Windows loads.
Download both the Flasher and the BIOS file.

Before you embark on this adventure, does your antivirus software have updated defintions? When did you last update it? Most novices let the software expire and never update or replace it. If you did this, you are very vulnerable.

Thanks. I will read what you suggest and discuss it with a friend who will help me with it. And, yes, my antivirus software is up to date which is something that I have been watching very carefully because of the date problem. I will let you know how this works out. Thanks again.
