What is Messanger ??

Hi,

I've had a cable internet connection for about 2 months now. What are these "Mesanger" messages that are ocassionally popping up on my screen ?? Where are they originating from ??
I didn't see these when I was on dialup :eek:

Hmm... all I have to say about the messages is... Norton Internet Security!!!

I installed it a few months ago and wow I was impressed. I bought it because I got hacked and need a fire wall which seems to be working well. As a bonus it has a pop up blocker which means no more unwanted ads. It was worth every penny, even if all it did was block ads I would have bought it.

It really doesn't matter what software you use but I really recommend a firewall. I get attacked several times a week if not a day now that I have a broadband connection. I think my all time high in one day was 273 attacks.

I was surprised and annoyed at first reporting every attack, which the IPS’s all but refused to do anything about it. I guess they are afraid of loosing all of there subscribers. ;) I’m just happy knowing that I am protected now and do not pay much attention to the attackers.
