Hey all...

I have ADSL service through Bellsouth. So, I know what adsl is (asynchronous digital subscriber line), but I don't know if we have PPPoE. There are patches specifically for PPPoE service, and I figure that would give me some additional modecum of improvement.

So, how can I tell? I have sent them an e-mail, but have no idea how quickly they respond, and of course, I'd like to use the new patch or settings as soon as possible.

Perhaps someone else out there uses this service from them also. If so, please advise.

Thanks,

By-Tor

If you check under Network Neighborhood->Properties you should see a PPPoE adapter I believe listed there if you are using PPPoE.

Just a quick question do you have a DSL Modem or does the incoming DSL line connect directly to the NIC? If it connects to the NIC you have IFITL service (Which is not DSL) in fact its better http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif and if you do have IFITL you are using PPPoE.

For some reason they are selling this service saying it is DSL when it is not. The only thing I can guess is maybe they do not want their DSL customers to know that there is something better out there.

This service I understand is only available in Georgia and Florida right now and only in subdivisions that were built in the past couple of years. They are not retrofitting older neighborhoods right now.

Thanks, I did (do) have PPPoE, found adaptor under network neighborhood / properties like you said.

Appreciate the help,
